About the Role
The Product Compliance & Risk (PC&R) team supports product development to deliver compliant-by-design products. This role will focus on enhancing the financial crime risk management program for Australia and New Zealand (AU/NZ), ensuring compliance while maximizing customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and continuously improve products and controls by leveraging deep understanding of the Wise product, regulatory requirements, and financial crime risks.
- Support new product launches by communicating requirements clearly and practically, adopting a risk-based, scalable approach with customer experience in mind.
- Manage financial crime risks by staying ahead of trends and regulatory agendas in AU/NZ, assessing and presenting risks quantitatively and qualitatively.
- Define and execute risk mitigation plans collaboratively.
- Conduct regulatory gap analyses, define and scope remediation actions, and ensure timely implementation.
- Collaborate with global teams to identify synergies with ongoing programs.
- Represent Wise in external engagements such as audits and regulatory inspections, explaining financial crime controls and developing remediation plans.
Requirements
- Expertise in financial crime compliance and risk management in AU/NZ with 8+ years of experience in financial services (banking, fintech, or consulting).
- Ability to translate regulations into actionable business requirements.
- High levels of ownership and autonomy, with the ability to proactively identify improvement opportunities or areas of elevated risk.
- Ability to prioritize and drive work from inception to completion at pace with limited oversight.
- Anticipate risks and roadblocks, and demonstrate resilience to work through them.
- Problem-solving attitude with the ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory and risk management frameworks.
- Exercise sound judgment in proposing and implementing customer-centric and scalable solutions.
- Use data to drive decision-making and quantify risks.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with global stakeholders and influence without authority.
- Challenge the status quo and think outside-the-box to balance compliance with customer outcomes.
- Legally authorized to work in Australia.
