About the Role
As an Employment Coach, you will support individuals living with disability, injury, or health conditions to achieve sustainable employment and greater independence. You will use a strengths-based, participant-led approach to help individuals overcome barriers, build confidence, develop job readiness skills, and connect with inclusive employers.
Responsibilities
- Build authentic, respectful relationships with participants as their primary point of contact throughout their employment journey.
- Support participants through engagement, pre-employment, employment, and post-employment phases of the program.
- Complete assessments to identify strengths, skills, experience, and barriers to employment.
- Develop individualized employment and goal plans aligned to participant aspirations and needs.
- Provide practical job readiness support including resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Facilitate group activities that build participant confidence, capability, and work-life skills.
- Advocate for participants with employers, government agencies, and community support services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers to create employment opportunities and workplace inclusion.
- Ensure accurate participant records, case notes, reporting, and compliance activities are completed within required timeframes.
- Contribute to service development, community engagement activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build productive relationships with tenants, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Employment Services, Career Counselling, or a related discipline, or a willingness to work towards achieving one.
- Strong customer service experience with the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Experience supporting people facing barriers to employment, education, or personal development and working with people living with disability and other vulnerable community members.
- Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize competing tasks, and achieve performance objectives.
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and record management capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
- Consistently achieve monthly employment placement and outcome targets, supporting positive employment outcomes for participants.
- Willingness to travel for outreach services within the Canterbury-Bankstown area.
- Current Driver Licence and WWCC required.
- Undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks before starting work.
