The Product Merchandising Team UK and Nordics positions our local award-winning, industry-leading content for distribution on the Netflix service through our work on individual titles as well as the broader catalogue in our markets.
Responsibilities
- Drive the local UK merchandising calendar, planning activations around title launches, cultural moments, seasonal trends, and member lifecycle milestones.
- Lead distribution and promotion strategy for local title launches, from positioning and merchandising strategy through to post-launch performance.
- Propose, develop and execute catalog activations (rows, hubs, custom promotions) that drive content discovery and reflect cultural resonance.
- Develop messaging campaigns (push notifications, emails) to connect members to content, timed to local moments and titles.
- Editorialise catalog content beyond new launches to support member engagement, surfacing library titles and hidden gems.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive business impact at the local level.
- Connect platform logic, consumer insights, and content strategy to drive merchandising activations and learning agendas.
- Apply awareness of local trends, social and cultural zeitgeist, and platform behavior to shape content surfacing.
- Advocate for market needs in regional and global conversations, sharing essential context.
- Work closely with Content, Marketing, Product teams, and external agency partners to share context, surface trade-offs, and align on priorities.
- Operate within global governance frameworks and playbooks, ensuring local activations complement the global calendar.
- Act as the local intelligence layer to surface on-the-ground market insights and trends.
- Contribute to playbooks and standards that can be scaled across markets.
- Partner with local marcomms on Product Title Creative Assets for priority titles, using external agencies where needed.
- Brief and review imagery, copy, and promotional materials.
- Ensure Product Assets across image, AV and copy adhere to Netflix's standards for quality, consistency, and local authenticity.
- Operate within the global Merchandising Playbook while driving locally resonant decisions.
- Use AV where needed to deepen member engagement and provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Partner with Creative Services and Design to ensure assets perform across all devices, with a focus on mobile.
- Optimize consumer messaging (email, push, in-app notifications) to feel individual and tailored.
- Partner with regional Performance Analysts and Technical Merchandising to monitor and report on local activations.
- Ensure hypotheses created at the local level are reflected in post-launch data.
- Contribute to A/B testing and experimentation, using data, dashboards, analytics tools, and qualitative market insight.
- Track and communicate the impact of merchandising decisions on member engagement, viewing behavior, and platform health metrics.
- Write clear, well-reasoned strategic briefs that articulate the 'why' behind activation decisions.
- Understand the UK business, think member-first, and bridge both to achieve business impact.
- Move from concept to live activation quickly while maintaining quality and intentionality.
Requirements
- A proven ability to engage customers via digital promotional and/or merchandising tactics, driving product engagement in an authentic and culturally relevant manner.
- Deep cultural fluency in the UK and curiosity to learn about new ones.
- A strong track record of using data to make decisions.
- Experience writing strategic briefs: define a problem clearly, build hypotheses, stress-test assumptions, make recommendations with conviction, and bring stakeholders along.
- Operational excellence: organized and accurate under high-volume, fast-moving conditions.
- Think in systems: connect content, members, product behavior, and market context into a coherent picture.
