About the Role

Perplexity is seeking a frontend engineer to develop the design system underpinning all Perplexity products. This includes the component library, design language, primitives, tokens, and interaction patterns used across web, iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. You will create component APIs, contribute to the token pipeline for visual consistency across five platforms, and ensure high standards for interaction quality and accessibility.

Responsibilities

Design and build core primitives with coherent APIs
Work across the design-token pipeline, including authoring, generation, and publishing
Partner with design to translate Figma systems into typed, testable, documented components
Migrate product surfaces to shared primitives
Build accessible components with automated coverage
Support consuming teams through documentation, visual regression coverage, and on-call rotation

Requirements

4+ years of production frontend development experience
Experience with a design system, component library, or shared UI platform is a plus
Interest in building reusable components
Comfort collaborating closely with designers on visual and interaction language
