About the Role

Provide client-centered clinical care under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist, conducting home visits as recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and supervise clients with prescribed exercise programs or ADL training.
  • Assist and supervise clients with walking, transfers, stairs, and safe mobility using proper body mechanics.
  • Provide client and family education and support for physical, functional, and self-care needs.
  • Assist with gross motor, fine motor, and balance activities.
  • Monitor and report changes in client health status to the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate in program planning, quality improvement, and evaluation.
  • Document in the client record and collect required data.

Requirements

  • Diploma as an OTA/PTA from an accredited college program.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in the community working with geriatric clients with variable diagnoses and multiple co-morbidities.
  • Skilled communicator with a successful track record of coaching/mentoring clients.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
  • Evidence of continuous education.
  • Sound critical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of rehabilitation principles and techniques.
