About the Role

The Utility Person is responsible for assisting in the functions of the physical plant areas related to campus events, office moves, dorm room set ups, and other related needs of the College.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading of trucks and moving furniture.
  • Moving and setting up staging, tables, and chairs for events.
  • Picking up trash and litter around campus grounds.
  • Assisting in snow removal from walkways and building entrances.
  • Assisting other physical plant employees on projects when needed.
  • Performing other duties outside of job classification for Facilities department as assigned.
  • Demonstrating and role-modeling all of Le Moyne’s mission-based competencies.
  • Strengthening digital literacy skills through education and application of digital technologies.
  • Supporting cura personalis by treating all individuals with dignity, professionalism, and kindness.
  • Promoting cura apostolica by aligning professional goals with college’s strategic goals.
  • Demonstrating excellent work attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Attending and actively participating in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Complying and adhering to all of Le Moyne’s established policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
  • Completing all required federal, state, institution, and department trainings.
  • Engaging in a planned program of professional development.
  • Continually maintaining skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry.
  • Performing a variety of related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience with snow removal preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the safety standards and precautions pertaining to moving heavy materials required.
  • Able to read and follow written and oral instructions required.
  • Ability to continuously perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting objects up to 75 lbs required.
  • Knowledge of computer programs.
  • May have to work overtime hours on an intermittent basis when operational needs arise.
