About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager to join our commercial team. You will own a portfolio of large, strategic accounts, protecting and growing revenue through proactive relationship development and stakeholder engagement. This is a key role in a new team, vital for setting operational standards and contributing to business retention and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own a small, focused portfolio of high-value strategic accounts, with a mandate to grow them through proactive expansion, multi-department penetration, and disciplined commercial execution
  • Build deep, multi-threaded relationships with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, within client organizations to understand their business needs, use cases, and satisfaction with our products
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the contract renewal process, addressing concerns proactively, and delivering on-time renewals with pricing and negotiation led by you
  • Identify and close upsell and cross-sell opportunities by staying close to client business priorities and organizational changes
  • Prepare and deliver renewal proposals, contracts, and executive-level presentations that highlight the value of Morning Consult’s solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Client Strategy, Sales, Product, BizOps, Legal, and Finance to surface and close expansion opportunities within existing accounts
  • Utilize CRM software to track client interactions, forecast renewals and upsells, and maintain accurate account and opportunity records
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and commercial best practices to continuously improve our renewal processes and client experience
  • Monitor customer usage and engagement metrics in partnership with assigned Client Strategists to identify potential risks and opportunities for proactive intervention
  • Perform other tasks and duties as may be required or assigned
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to visit clients, attend industry events, and collaborate with teammates across our DC, NY, and Chicago offices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic account management, enterprise sales, or contract renewal management — preferably at a data, research, or technology company (DaaS background strongly preferred over traditional SaaS)
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding renewal revenue targets in a B2B environment, with clear examples of upsells, expansions, and multi-year deals you owned and closed
  • Experience managing and growing relationships with Fortune 500 clients and senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives
  • Executive presence: polished, professional communication style — in writing, on video, and in person
  • A sales mindset: goal-driven, proactive, and motivated by closing
  • Scrappiness and adaptability — experience at smaller companies or high-growth environments is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, territory management, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple complex accounts and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working with CRM software (bonus points for Salesforce CPQ!)
  • Intellectual curiosity: you follow the news, you understand your clients’ industries, and you’re excited by the intersection of data and business strategy
  • Willing to take feedback, learn and grow; an ethos of continuous self-improvement
