About the Role
Join NYCEDC's Asset Management Design & Construction (AMDC) team to deliver capital projects that improve and preserve New York City's public assets. The Project Director will lead the full lifecycle of design and construction projects related to the NYC Groceries initiative and other assigned projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, policy objectives, budget requirements, and project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Manage capital plans and project budgets across assigned portfolio of projects.
- Oversee all development phases, including procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction teams.
- Conduct thorough existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, budgeting, and securing regulatory approvals.
- Maintain scope, cost, and schedule controls, ensuring accurate project reporting and documentation.
- Manage project quality, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet NYCEDC standards.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks using a proactive, risk-based management approach.
- Collaborate across NYC Groceries teams to ensure projects align with current policies and operational and maintenance considerations.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, construction managers, governmental agencies, and community organizations.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Analytical thinker with a proven ability to anticipate and troubleshoot project challenges and develop recommended solutions.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communicator.
- Knowledge of budgeting and cost analysis for design and construction projects.
- NYC residency is required within 180 days of hire.
