About the Role
Scale AI's Employee Relations team partners across the business to resolve workplace issues fairly, consistently, and in a way that protects both our people and the company. As we scale headcount across the US and Mexico, we're looking for an Employee Relations Partner to independently own our North America caseload — from performance management through investigations and separations — working closely with Legal, HR Business Partners, and all Business Unites. This role calls for a genuine problem solver: someone who can walk into a messy, ambiguous case with no exact precedent and quickly build a sound, seamless path forward on their own.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a full caseload of ER cases across the US (and support Mexico as needed), including performance issues, investigations, and separations.
- Diagnose ambiguous, novel workplace issues and construct a clear path forward when there's no clean policy or precedent to lean on.
- Conduct thorough, timely, and legally-sound workplace investigations from intake to closure.
- Advise and coach managers through sensitive performance and conduct conversations.
- Partner directly with Legal to assess risk and align on documentation and resolution strategy.
- Maintain clear, defensible case documentation in our case management system (HR Acuity).
- Manage separations end-to-end, including coordination with Workplace and Legal.
- Support HRBPs with ER training, policy guidance, and escalation triage.
- Contribute to scaling ER infrastructure, including our Whistleblower Hotline and Competitors Escalation Program.
Requirements
- 5+ years of employee relations experience, including direct ownership of workplace investigations.
- A track record of solving genuinely ambiguous, first-of-their-kind cases — not just executing an existing playbook.
- Strong working knowledge of US employment law.
- Supported Global teams.
- Experience using a formal ER case management system.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Sound judgment handling highly confidential and sensitive information.
