About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Specialist focused on SAR Reporting, you will provide expert, objective assurance on the quality and effectiveness of operational processes and controls. Your core function is to ensure risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated in line with policy requirements, identifying weaknesses, assessing risk materiality, and reporting outcomes. You will apply risk expertise and critical thinking to conduct reviews and make recommendations for continuous improvement, playing an integral part in helping Wise achieve its mission of Money Without Borders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct holistic, risk-based reviews using test scripts and scorecards to assess risk outcomes and compliance with policies, guidance, and risk appetite.
  • Assess risk, materiality, and root causes for each finding, providing clear and robust reasons aligned to policy compliance and/or risk mitigation.
  • Participate in calibration exercises to share findings, best practices, and ensure consistent decision-making.
  • Clearly communicate outcomes to stakeholders covering key risks, issues, root causes, and recommendations, maintaining robust records and audit trails.
  • Analyze, assess, and communicate emerging themes and trends, recommending opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Scope, plan, and execute root cause analysis or targeted investigations when assigned.
  • Contribute to team collaboration and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities.
  • Proactively achieve individual and team targets (KPIs, SLAs), demonstrating commitment to quality and speed.
  • Meet deadlines, optimize processing times, and take full ownership and accountability to deliver results.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by your lead, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach.
  • Actively participate in meetings, training, and internal events to support broader team and company objectives.
  • Embody and uphold Wise’s values in daily interactions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in QA related to BSA/AML or experience in AML Investigations or SAR Reporting.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal skills) with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts and recommendations.
  • Takes ownership for personal development, including commitment to develop expertise through industry and trend analysis, regulatory insights, and emerging risk typologies.
  • Good understanding of Quality Assurance methodologies and frameworks, including testing procedures, scoring criteria, and root cause analysis.
  • Applies consistent standards across all reviews.
  • Risk and Compliance expertise relevant to SAR Reporting, including the ability to identify and assess risks, interpret and apply policy requirements and guidance, and a good understanding of the regulatory environment applicable to the function.
  • Efficient at reviewing and investigating customer files, identifying missing information, issues, trends, and root causes, using AI and data as appropriate.
  • Competent using case management systems, dashboards, AI tools to support case working and analysis.
  • Understands automation, AI, and is comfortable working with evolving tools and technologies to enhance ways of working.
  • Ability to critically assess information, demonstrate attention to detail, challenge assumptions, dig deeper where required, ask the right questions, and connect data across different sources to make informed and risk-based decisions.
  • Explain rationale to ensure QA outcomes can withstand audit and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Uses facts, data, policy, and risk frameworks to support conclusions and assess risk materiality ensuring decisions can be justified.
  • Clear, constructive, and concise written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain risks and issues in simple terms in a constructive and actionable manner.
  • Able to keep up with evolving requirements and ongoing changes impacting QA team, policy, guidance, processes, and systems.
  • Open to feedback and continuous improvement.
