About the Role
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment to quality and productivity standards.
Responsibilities
- Must have a good working knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand applications for use.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determine method and mode of shipment to customer requirements.
- Prepares and expedites shipments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, including lift truck or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment is required.
- Operate all machinery, tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Advise parts manager if there is anything in need of repair.
- Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Able to receive and process all defective parts returned for replacement or credit (RMA).
- Check in and stock parts inventory and ensure accuracy.
- Corresponds with inventory control regarding any damages/shortages (any claims).
- Work in a team environment.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Pick-up and deliver parts or raw materials to/from our suppliers using a company van as requested.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, preferably customers and vendors as well.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- With minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolving problems and issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Complete and pass OSHA approved forklift training.
- Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards.
- Frequent lifting or with other means for movement of boxes or parts.
- May also include frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers can also be expected.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (manpowered and mechanical powered equipment is available for assistance).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, oils, or airborne particles.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Work performed in a combination of shop and office environments.
