About the Role
Mariana Minerals is seeking its first dedicated design hire to simplify complex, data-heavy workflows within MarianaOS. This role is crucial for making the platform intuitive and human-centered, managing underlying complexity while ensuring ease of use for hundreds of daily employees.
Responsibilities
- Design clear information architecture and flows for complex, data-dense workflows in MarianaOS.
- Grow and own the design system, including coded components.
- Partner with PMs and engineers from problem framing through shipped UI.
- Give and receive design feedback to improve visual standards and product usability.
- Prototype directly in code when it's the fastest path to a solution.
- Set short-horizon design direction (weeks to a couple months).
- Run and synthesize lightweight user research and feedback loops.
- Define best design practices and ways of working for the company.
Requirements
- Ability to simplify complexity by transforming complicated products or datasets into clear solutions.
- Experience designing for non-trivial products, particularly technical, operational, or data-heavy ones.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex problems into clear user stories.
- A strong perspective on future-looking visual design that modernizes the industry without compromising usability.
- Comfort and experience working collaboratively with PMs and engineers.
- Fluency with AI tools and adaptability to evolving design processes.
- Experience designing in the open, shaping products as they are built and used.
- Good pixel craft and professional visual work.
- Demonstrated judgment on complex problems.
- Experience as a first designer at a startup is ideal.
- Seasoned specialist with a deep complex-product portfolio.
- Experience working with teams to simplify data.
