About the Role

The Shipping/Receiving Attendant I is responsible for the efficient and accurate management of all incoming and outgoing egg shipments. This role ensures quality control, inventory management, and timely order fulfillment while adhering to food safety regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Check paperwork before unloading, counting all items to ensure they match the paperwork.
• Inspect all items for damage and report to a supervisor immediately.
• Ensure incoming product is put away in the correct location.
• Label all incoming products with a Julian date or date received.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of coolers, docks, and warehouse areas.
• Securely wrap all pallets and carts before loading.
• Collaborate with a supervisor to map out truck loads before loading.
• Ensure trucks are clean and odor-free, and that the reefer is running properly.
• Secure the dock plate before loading, using cardboard under flat plates to prevent slipping.
• Double-check invoices and pick tickets to ensure correct items are placed on pallets.
• Follow proper rotation (first in, first out) when building pallets.
• Record Julian dates on load sheets and invoices, and initial all pick tickets.
• Complete pre-operational inspections on electric pallet jacks before use.
• Demonstrate strong awareness and safety while operating pallet jacks.
• Handle all products carefully and report any damages to a supervisor; do not ship damaged product.
• Secure trucks using load bars and straps.
• Ensure all products are scanned completely before loading onto the truck.
• Ensure all trucks are locked if moved away from the dock.
• Maintain a positive attitude throughout each work shift.
• Be flexible when situational priorities change throughout the day.
• Assist in other areas as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
• Experience and ability to operate an electric pallet jack safely.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory or warehouse management systems and RF scanners.
• Must not currently own or hunt birds (pet bird, backyard flock, etc.).
