About the Role

Langan is seeking a White Plains Landscape Architecture + Planning Studio Lead to manage all aspects of planning, design, and permitting for Landscape Architecture, land development, and planning projects. This role involves applying intensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a diverse portfolio of projects including waterfront design, urban revitalization, streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, healthcare and university campus design, rooftop gardens, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, land development, and planning projects.
  • Lead the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projects.
  • Mentor, train, and motivate staff; supervise, review, and approve work of project staff.
  • Plan, schedule, and develop task and project budgets; prepare progress reports and draft change orders.
  • Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines; monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines; minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget.
  • Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, prepare proposals, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients.
  • Actively participate in and maintain a committee-level membership from a professional Landscape Architecture or technical society.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture required; Master’s degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Passion for design excellence and the challenges of creating inspiring places in urban environments.
  • Professional landscape architect license.
  • LEED AP or AICP certification considered a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Prior project management experience with the ability to grow, lead, and cultivate staff.
  • Knowledge of local, city, county, and state land use processes and regulations strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interact well with senior leaders of the firm, coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in report and proposal writing, billing, and budgeting.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and meetings and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Portfolio of work samples with application.
