About the Role

Samara Aerospace is seeking a Senior Lab Technician to support the development of their Hummingbird satellite technology demonstrator. This role offers opportunities to lead lab organization, perform PCB rework, harness builds, CNC fabrication, hardware assembly, and environmental testing. The position can evolve into a Senior Technician/Lab Manager role, involving coordination and mentoring of new technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform soldering and rework of cables, connectors, and PCB assemblies.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of prototype and spaceflight hardware.
  • Support 3D printing operations for prototype parts and ground support equipment.
  • Fabricate and assemble ground support equipment, test fixtures, assembly jigs, and mass offload systems.
  • Follow and execute assembly and test procedures with precision.
  • Support integration and test activities across mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Assist engineers with build, assembly, and test tasks.
  • Handle and process flight hardware in accordance with workmanship and cleanliness standards.
  • Assist engineers with hands-on build, debug, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Manage the day-to-day organization and upkeep of the hardware lab.
  • Track hardware status and assembly progress, maintaining clear records.
  • Develop, document, and refine lab procedures and work instructions.
  • Support process development efforts to improve lab efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining OSHA compliance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and support compliance with lab standards.
  • Coordinate external contractors and vendors during lab buildout.
  • Coordinate work, provide guidance, and support development of new technicians.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a hardware lab, production, or integration environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical rework, PCB/cable/connector soldering, mechanical assembly, or systems integration.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience following and executing formal assembly or test procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and initiative.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of a space and process.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and reliable.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
