About the Role

This role tells the stories of the firm’s people and work, and creates marketing communications for one of Canada’s most trusted engineering firms. The role touches a variety of marketing communications deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develop communications plans and ensure execution to promised specifications, deliverables, and timelines, keeping internal clients engaged and apprised of progress.
  • Conduct interviews with staff to collect information and bring S+A’s stories to life with articles, case studies, profiles, videos, and other content.
  • Create engaging content for internal and external communications channels, including social media, newsletters, the intranet, email campaigns, and marketing materials.
  • Manage and coordinate internal communications initiatives, including e-blasts, employee resources, internal social media, presentations, and company-wide announcements.
  • Provide communications support to all offices, corporate departments, and Diversity Working Group committees, providing insight, suggestions, and rapid turnaround of communications and campaigns.
  • Liaise with human resources team to communicate the attributes of Smith + Andersen’s employer brand to students, job-seekers, and current staff.
  • Create and publish content for the smithandandersen.com and sa-footprint.com websites. Work with our graphic designers and external web developer as needed, and provide recommendations for improvements across the sites.
  • Maintain and manage a calendar of school sponsorship opportunities and career fairs, and coordinate participation and deliverables.
  • Drive the creation of content for the quarterly newsletter, gathering content from contacts across the company, and writing content.
  • Monitor website, email, intranet, and social media analytics to inform improvements to communications.
  • Maintain an awareness of competitor activities and marketing communications best practices within and outside our industry.
  • Ensure all Marketing Communications are aligned with the Writing Style Guide and receive all appropriate reviews and approvals.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Communications Project Manager and graphic design team to ensure projects are delivered to meet or exceed internal clients’ expectations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team members to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective communications strategies and solutions.
  • Contribute to departmental and organization-wide objectives and goals.
  • Foster strong relationships across the organization to support collaboration, information sharing, and communications initiatives.
  • Ensure brand attributes and positioning are evident in all communications as appropriate.
  • Assist other members of the marketing team when necessary.

Requirements

  • Four to six years of experience, with proven success in marketing communications.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with senior leadership teams and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including project management, prioritization, and time management.
  • A strong sense of initiative, paired with the ability to lead projects autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong work ethic with a drive to perform in a collaborative environment.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive and continuously looking for ways to improve work and processes.
