About the Role

Under the supervision of the Beacon Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for all phases of successful and safe operation of Beacon Programming as well as adherence to the standards and polices set by the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Graham-Windham. In the absence of the Beacon Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for supervision of all program personnel, program participants and program areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing coaching and development of staff members, including formal mid-year and end-of-year evaluations.
  • Attend mandatory staff training and staff meetings.
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout all areas of programming.
  • Assist the Beacon Director in the supervision and quality assurance of all program delivery.
  • Plan and organize daily program activities and oversee the implementation of schedules and lesson plans.
  • Facilitate regular supervision conferences with direct reports.
  • Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of program personnel.
  • Lead the planning and execution of program events and initiatives.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with program participants, staff, parents, host school staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Beacon Director to create a positive work environment.
  • Maintain records of program data, including attendance, fiscal, and compliance.
  • Assist the Beacon Director in preparing and submitting reports on program performance data and outcomes.
  • Execute administrative tasks using Graham Windham ordering and requisition systems.
  • Facilitate Parent Advisory Board meetings monthly and other parent and community engagement activities.

Requirements

  • Must be motivated, a team player, solution-oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a fervent desire to partner with children and families in the community.
  • Must be adaptable with a proven record of accomplishment of leading teams with positive program outcomes.
  • Must possess the ability to organize activities and maintain compliance documentation and records for funders and regulatory agencies.
  • Must have a firm understanding of child development and experience working within a school-age childcare setting.
  • Must have previous experience leading meetings with youth, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Must obtain and maintain up-to-date American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Must obtain and maintain annually mandated OCFS trainings.
  • Must obtain the NYS School Age Child Care (SAC) Credential within 2 years after hire.
