About the Role
We are looking for an energetic, experienced Underwriting Assistant to join our UA team. The successful candidate will provide support to our underwriters through collaboration and performing a variety of administrative duties associated with the underwriting function.
Responsibilities
- Completing the entry of new business, endorsements and renewals into the system and issuing policies.
- Training and mentoring less experienced staff, as well as assisting team lead or manager with workflow and creation of a team-oriented approach to meeting Regional and Corporate goals.
- Ordering risk inspections for underwriters, as requested.
- Preparing and maintaining basic file set up documents subject to the underwriter’s approval.
- Obtaining additional information from Brokers as required by the Underwriter.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years insurance industry experience, preferably commercial insurance.
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams.
- The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
