About the Role
Dexterra Group is seeking an Electrician to analyze electrical drawings, troubleshoot, repair, and install components of normal and emergency power systems. This role involves installing electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances, ensuring proper sealing of conduit penetrations, and performing weekly test runs of emergency diesel generators. The Electrician will also inspect various systems, trace and test circuits, isolate and repair faults, and implement a preventive maintenance program for power equipment and related systems. Maintaining an orderly, clean, and safe work area is also a key responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and instructions to troubleshoot, repair, and replace/install components of normal and emergency power systems (up to 600V).
- Install electrical circuits and all types of electrical equipment and appliances, including grounding leads, lighting fixtures, life safety systems, and other circuits.
- Measure, cut, thread, and install electrical conduits, pulling wiring through conduits, holes in walls, and floors.
- Ensure any conduit penetration through floors or fire separation walls is sealed with fire-retarded sealant.
- Splice, join, and connect wire to fixtures, power equipment, and components.
- Mount motors, transformers, and light fixtures into position and complete circuits according to drawings and specifications.
- Perform weekly test runs of emergency diesel generators in coordination with building operators.
- Inspect lighting systems, emergency power systems, alarm systems, HVAC systems, medical equipment, and patient's electrical devices.
- Trace, inspect, and test circuits, instruments, and faulty operations.
- Isolate and repair sources of trouble and faults in electrical systems and any type of electrical equipment and control devices.
- Replace and/or repair faulty components, including switches, sockets, ballasts, light bulbs/tubes, and other simple elements of electrical systems.
- Implement a scheduled preventive maintenance program for power equipment (e.g., transformers, breakers, disconnects, capacitor banks, switchgears), HVAC equipment (e.g., motors, VFDs, controls, sensors), medical gas systems, alarm systems, communication systems, and medical equipment.
- Keep the work area orderly, clean, and safe.
- Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
