About the Role
Work directly with the founding team on a technically ambitious infrastructure platform, focusing on components where microsecond savings and bug fixes have a significant impact across numerous instances. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about high-performance, low-latency systems at extreme scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain the core infrastructure for Unikraft Cloud, supporting both hosted and on-prem deployments.
- Design and implement platform components with native support for scale-to-zero, autoscaling, and strong isolation.
- Optimize platform performance, security, and reliability for diverse workloads including serverless functions, AI agents, remote IDEs, and telemetry backends.
- Develop stress harnesses, soak runs, and regression checks to validate platform performance under real-world load.
- Identify and resolve complex bugs, including race conditions and memory leaks.
- Contribute to the platform's technical roadmap.
- Engage with users to gather feedback and inform platform development.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency and programming skills in C, with a deep understanding of systems-level programming.
- Experience building and maintaining operating systems, embedded systems, and/or device drivers.
- Familiarity with memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies like QEMU/KVM.
- Solid grasp of Linux (and Linux networking) internals; comfort working close to the kernel is a plus.
- Excellent debugging skills with a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with C toolchains, build systems, and cross-compilation workflows.
- Experience with Rust is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly.
