About the Role

This role involves learning and assisting in all aspects of the fire sprinkler and fire alarm trade, including installation, service, and troubleshooting in various building types. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, accurate documentation, and efficient job site management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment.
  • Support fire alarm installation.
  • Install fire sprinkler or fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Interpret project drawings for installation requirements and layout.
  • Thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, and lay out work.
  • Use appropriate job-specific equipment, including tools and lifts.
  • Complete all training requirements, including safety and certifications.
  • Submit accurate and timely timesheets, including job numbers, OT, and travel pay.
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and professional.
  • Manage inventory, including reviewing, updating, and approving packing slips.
  • Maintain and care for equipment, such as trucks, lifts, and tools.
  • Keep job sites clean and organized.
  • Ensure production efficiency by monitoring labor hours against budget and communicating with the superintendent.
  • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including Purchase Orders and Change Orders.
  • Maintain timeliness in job arrival, attendance, and communication with supervisors.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and implement feedback for improvement.
  • Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in required team meetings.
  • Work overtime, out of town, or on-call as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler, fire alarm, or construction-related helper, preferred.
  • Ability to travel out of city and state.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to take direction from upper management.
  • Ability to accurately read measurements from tape or scales.
