About the Role
The Off Campus Housing Coordinator is responsible for providing off-campus housing services, resources, and support to students, and for developing and maintaining relationships with community partners. This role aims to create a sense of belonging within the larger Humber environment by offering comprehensive, student-centric support related to off-campus accommodations.
Responsibilities
- Manage off-campus housing services, resources, and supports for students.
- Develop and maintain community partner relationships.
- Engage current and future learners and their families, providing support related to off-campus accommodations.
- Act as an expert in off-campus housing trends, community concerns, and bylaws.
- Collaborate with on-campus and community partners to ensure a broad range of housing options are available.
- Participate in building and maintaining processes.
- Design and deliver programming.
- Receive and make referrals both on and off campus.
- Assist learners in finding safe off-campus accommodations.
- Engage students and their families proactively by participating in campus events and planning informational sessions.
- Utilize knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of the needs of equity-deserving groups.
- Train and coach student staff to extend additional supports to learners.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with off-campus housing providers and community partners.
- Identify new opportunities for safe off-campus housing options.
- Ensure existing agreements with housing providers are adhered to.
- Develop and maintain off-campus resources, ensuring inclusivity and cultural relevance.
- Build student community through programming, curriculum, and supports.
- Work closely with the Residence team, offering alternatives to those on the Residence waitlist.
- Prepare students moving out of Residence with an understanding of their rights and responsibilities for off-campus living.
- Respond to inquiries related to on and off-campus housing.
- Assist with significant events such as move-in, move-out, or unexpected urgent situations.
- Track and analyze key metrics.
- Conduct an annual assessment of the student housing experience.
- Develop an annual report on off-campus housing.
- Seek and work with the Manager to secure alternative funding sources to subsidize the cost of operating the Off Campus Housing department.
- Perform occasional evening and weekend shifts for program delivery, open houses, and Residence move-in/move-out.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in post-secondary environments or public housing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience problem-solving with diverse groups and supporting the removal of barriers to services for equity-deserving communities.
- Minimum 3 years of risk management experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with knowledge of instructional design and delivery.
- Minimum 3 years of marketing and communication experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working independently.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in presentation and communicating to audiences and groups of various sizes and make-up.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in creating, developing workshops, events, and training.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with assessment and analysis techniques.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in relationship building and management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in coordination and leadership of a student staff team.
