About the Role
The Transportation Assistant's primary function is to pick up donations for the Rescue Mission's Food Service Department. The individual is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner displaying courtesy and respect towards others at all times.
Responsibilities
- Pick up scheduled food donations daily in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure items in coolers and freezers are rotated and organized.
- Maintain documentation for food donations and driving logs.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspection and fueling of vehicle.
- Assist Food Service with tasks related to special events, as directed.
- Abide by all Mission and program and safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Attend and participate in meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience working in a food service environment preferred.
- Clean & valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Experience driving a van preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Enthusiastic support of our Mission Statement.
- Ability to lift/transport items weighing 50+ pounds.

- Use/wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times that this is necessary & observe safe work practices at all times.
- Maintain a professional and approachable attitude on the Mission campus.
