About the Role

The Transmission division is seeking a Senior Remote Area Transmitter Technologist to join its Sudbury team. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, and modifying transmission equipment, satellite communication systems, and facilities to ensure optimal operation. You will also align, test, and configure equipment and systems, perform repairs and preventive maintenance, and contribute to quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, and modify transmission equipment, satellite communication systems, and facilities.
Align, test, and configure equipment and systems, including related software, for optimal performance.
Identify and address existing or potential problems with equipment and systems.
Perform and document repairs and regular preventive maintenance according to established procedures and corporate standards.
Carry out and assist in the development of quality control procedures.
Prepare and correct documents, schematics, functional drawings, specification tables, and layout diagrams.
Contact suppliers for equipment, services, or advice.
Operate motor vehicles.
Guide the development and assist in the training of other employees.
Contribute ideas and make recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results.
Troubleshoot and maintain other equipment associated with remote transmitter sites.
Maintain complete transmitter sites including buildings, grounds, and roads.
Travel to remote locations under short notice and difficult conditions.
Work on satellite dishes.
Be available for overtime.

Requirements

Must possess at least a two (2) year Post-Secondary technologist diploma from a recognized college in an appropriate discipline or its equivalent.
Practical and relevant experience would be considered an asset.
Requires overall general knowledge regarding maintenance of equipment, systems, and relevant software technologies.
Must possess a valid driver's license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/RadioCanada's insurance company.
Frequent travel may be required and includes long distance trips.
Must be able to travel and to work alone at remote locations under difficult conditions.
Must be able to meet the identified physical requirements of the position.
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
A mandatory Criminal record check is required.
Other background checks may be conducted based on operational requirements.
