About the Role
McGard is seeking a highly talented and motivated Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing success.
Responsibilities
- Manages the people, department and functions in the procurement of materials, supplies and services necessary for the maintenance and operation of McGard, LLC/L. D. McCauley, LLC and Special Products Division areas.
- Supervises Purchasing Department employees and directs the activities of Purchasing Department in the procurement of raw materials, components, finished goods and outside services.
- Creates, maintains, and administers the Purchasing Department’s procurement procedures.
- Develops and executes purchasing strategies to maximize operations stability and minimize costs.
- Works closely with management and other departments to define and implement supply chain best practices.
- Creates and reports purchasing metrics, leading procurement responses and actions based upon supply chain data.
- Actively tracks price changes and on-time delivery performance.
- Presents Purchasing Department performance reports and strategy reviews to upper management.
- Assists in the research, development and qualification of suppliers and supply chain partners.
- Manages supplier relationships and evaluations and resolves supplier grievances or disputes.
- Negotiates pricing, terms & conditions of purchasing contracts for goods and services.
- Actively reviews forecasts, market conditions and business trends to advise on optimum inventory levels.
- Leads efforts with suppliers in the investigation, resolution and expediting of parts for quality or delivery concerns.
- Defines staffing needs, hires, trains, and supervises department personnel including Buyers and Purchasing Agents.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops staff, including succession planning and performance reviews.
- Supervises personnel in the execution of their purchasing responsibilities.
- Collaborates with Production Control and Inventory Control Supervisors to support production needs.
- Works closely with Finance and IT departments in structuring and reporting of materials and costing information.
- Administers all oversees compliance to ISO, IATF, and other regulatory requirements for all purchasing functions.
- Oversees Diversity Sourcing, Supplier Sustainability, and other customer-required purchasing related programs.
- Works with the Quality department to require actions from our suppliers regarding defective product.
- Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required for visits to vendors and suppliers.
- Must be aware of, comply with, and support IATF/ISO-related procedures, as applicable.
- Will be required to follow any other instruction and to perform any other duties requested by their Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience in a Purchasing or Supply Chain capacity.
- Minimum two (2) years of direct experience in personnel supervision and department budgeting.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management in a positive manner and maintains a safe and supportive work environment.
- Position requires individual to be capable of traveling & working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
- Advanced knowledge in the configuration and use of ERP/MRP software systems.

Experience Level
- 5+ years of related experience in a Purchasing or Supply Chain capacity
- 2+ years of direct experience in personnel supervision and department budgeting
Education Level
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, Manufacturing/Industrial/Operations Management, or a closely related field.
Salary/Compensations
- $80,000 - $90,000 Annually DOE
