We are seeking a reliable individual for a position as a Maintenance & Traffic Protection Foreperson to join a dedicated and hard-working team in Wilton Campus. Responsibilities
- Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Lead Maintenance & Traffic Protection (MPT) crews on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.
- Implement and maintain work zone traffic control plans in accordance with NYSDOT standards.
- Install, maintain, inspect, and remove temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, drums, barricades, temporary barrier, arrow boards, and message boards.
- Coordinate lane closures, detours, traffic shifts, and work zone changes.
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure traffic control devices remain compliant throughout each shift.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, paving crews, bridge crews, subcontractors, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Maintain traffic safely while minimizing disruption to the traveling public.
- Manage crew productivity, equipment, and traffic control inventory.
- Complete daily reports and documentation related to traffic control activities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of traffic control or heavy highway construction experience.
- Previous experience leading MPT, traffic control, highway maintenance, or roadway construction crews.
- Thorough understanding of NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Standards.
- Thorough understanding of MUTCD requirements.
- Thorough understanding of lane closures and traffic shifts.
- Thorough understanding of temporary traffic control devices.
- Thorough understanding of work zone safety.
- Ability to interpret traffic control plans and project drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license.
