About the Role
Lead nursing in one of San Francisco's most personalized medical practices. Private Medical is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse Manager to lead our San Francisco nursing team at our Laurel Heights practice. This is an opportunity for a nurse leader who wants to step away from the pace and complexity of traditional hospital medicine and into a more thoughtful model of care, one built around long-term patient relationships, clinical excellence, collaboration, and time to do things well.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong clinical leadership and direction to nursing staff, championing a culture of patient safety and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure consistent application of safety protocols and guidelines across all clinical procedures, monitoring compliance and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee clinical specialties, including policies, procedures, laboratory testing, specimen handling, specialized equipment purchases, training, and cleaning procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff.
- Collaborate with site leadership and human resources to optimize nursing staff performance and enhance efficiency.
- Analyze staffing needs, develop efficient staffing models, and implement strategies to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Utilize data to monitor key performance indicators, identify trends, and develop strategies to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff, physicians, administrative teams, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all nursing practices and documentation adhere to relevant regulations and organizational policies.
- Address and resolve clinical and operational issues related to nursing staff and patient care.
- Participate in the development and management of nursing department budgets for assigned locations.
- Collaborate with other Regional Nurse Managers to ensure consistency across sites and provide cross coverage.
- Actively participate in assigned committees, projects, and tasks to support site and organizational needs.
Requirements
- Active California RN license, current BLS certification, and valid California driver’s license.
- Minimum of three (3) years of management experience and leading large teams.
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership or training responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures.
- Strong understanding of patient safety principles, quality improvement methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant healthcare technology.
- Ability to travel regularly to assigned clinical sites.
