About the Role

Orbital is an AI-first industrial company building hardware from the atoms up, aiming to lead an industrial renaissance. We are developing critical hardware for AI data centers to enhance performance and sustainability, leveraging an AI platform for automated hardware engineering and material science.

Responsibilities

• Run and maintain 3D printers, CNC machines, and workshop tooling.
• Create and review CAD models for digital fabrication.
• Produce parts, jigs, and test fixtures according to drawings.
• Manage tooling, consumables, and machine servicing.
• Lead the mechanical build of Direct-to-Chip testing and validation rigs.
• Support commissioning, including leak checks, function testing, and troubleshooting.
• Deliver mechanical and electrical modifications to existing rigs.
• Build control panels and instrumentation to schematic.
• Assemble mechanical sub-systems to specification and tolerance.
• Function test completed builds and document results.
• Oversee day-to-day mechanical operation of test rigs.
• Set up, run, and reset test configurations, reviewing data for improvements.
• Source and order rig components, managing suppliers and lead times.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience running 3D printers, CNC machines, and workshop tooling.
• Proficiency in both mechanical assembly and electrical build work.
• Experience in prototype, R&D, or low-volume build environments.
• Practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with fluid systems or test instrumentation is a strong plus.
