About the Role
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Business Rates team in London. You will be expected to value commercial property assets across all property valuation methods and manage key client accounts.
Responsibilities
- Value commercial property assets using comparable rental, contractors, and receipts and expenditure methods.
- Manage key client accounts and undertake quarterly meetings.
- Provide regular appeal status, liability, and accrual reporting.
- Use CPI Inform Riverlake and Analyse business rates software programmes and co-star for data management and evidence compilation.
- Navigate the Check, Challenge and Appeal business rates framework for England, raising Checks and submitting challenges for the 2023 revaluation.
- Advise clients on seismic changes in business rates, including the Non-domestic Rating Bill 2022-23, empty rates relief, and transparency/disclosure.
- Manage a diverse business rates caseload.
- Stay updated on business rates case law, valuation, and upper tribunal cases.
- Navigate the Check, Challenge and Appeal Framework in England and the Government Gateway.
- Arrange and undertake client site inspections, assessing commercial buildings for Checks and relief applications.
- Present facts and advise clients to manage risk and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Negotiate with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
- Maintain a network amongst rating agents and commercial property professionals.
- Write analytical valuation reports for Challenges and tribunal referrals.
- Attend valuation tribunals as an expert witness and advocate.
Requirements
- Competently use and operate the CPI Inform Riverlake and Analyse business rates software programmes and co-star.
- Independently raise Checks and submit challenges on behalf of clients for the 2023 revaluation.
- Have awareness of changes in business rates to advise clients accordingly.
- Full understanding of the content of the Non-domestic Rating Bill 2022-23.
- Familiarity with live consultations relating to empty rates relief and transparency and disclosure of valuation information.
- Confident negotiator when dealing with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
- Very good regional network amongst rating agents and key commercial property professionals.
- Good analytical valuation report writing skills.
- Experience of and knowledge of attending valuation tribunals as an expert witness and advocate.
