About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Architect to shape data and AI capabilities for clients, with deep expertise in AWS and cloud-native data, analytics, and AI platforms. This senior role involves setting architectural direction, advising stakeholders, and leading delivery teams, integrating machine learning, Generative AI, and Large Language Models into scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

Shape data and AI capabilities for clients.
Set architectural direction for data and AI platforms.
Advise senior stakeholders on data and AI strategies.
Lead delivery teams in implementing data and AI solutions.
Integrate machine learning, Generative AI, and Large Language Models into solutions.
Own complex areas of delivery, applying modern data and AI engineering to public sector and regulated clients.
Design scalable platform components for batch and real-time/streaming processing.
Integrate machine learning, Generative AI, and foundation models into enterprise solutions.
Implement robust data management, security, and governance for public sector and regulated environments.
Apply responsible AI principles.
Lead multiple, complex areas of work to time, cost, and quality with minimal direction.
Manage large teams as the key point of escalation.
Partner with and influence senior stakeholders.
Navigate client political landscapes to achieve programme objectives.
Understand the whole risk landscape and stand up multi-functional teams of SMEs to resolve issues.
Drive innovation and market-leading practices across multiple clients and industries.
Mentor engineers and architects.
Build capability in junior team members and client counterparts.

Requirements

Proven experience (8+ years) in data, analytics, and AI platform architecture, design, and delivery.
Expertise in AWS cloud-native data and analytics platforms across the data value chain.
Experience designing scalable platform components spanning batch and real-time/streaming processing across microservices- and API-driven architectures.
Experience integrating machine learning, Generative AI, and foundation models into enterprise solutions, including agentic AI approaches.
Experience implementing robust data management, security, and governance for public sector and regulated environments, applying responsible AI principles.
Proven ability to lead multiple, complex areas of work to time, cost, and quality with minimal direction.
Ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders.
A track record of understanding the whole risk landscape and standing up multi-functional teams of SMEs to resolve issues.
Recognised as a subject matter expert driving innovation and market-leading practices across multiple clients and industries.
Strong understanding of cloud-centric solution design, the full data lifecycle, and MLOps/AIOps.
Experience mentoring engineers and architects, building capability in junior team members and client counterparts.
Must hold active SC clearance for this role.
Applicants must have been resident in the UK for the last five years.
Applicants must not have spent more than six consecutive months outside the UK during that period.
