About the Role

Baillie Lumber Co. has an opening for a Manager Trainee at our Smyrna, NY location and other New York based locations. This role involves working and learning various jobs within a concentration yard responsible for manufacturing hardwood lumber. Baillie's trainee program has been a successful talent pipeline for 40 years, supporting company growth and the need for more managers nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Work with Kiln Operator to learn kiln schedules and assist with daily tasks.
• Learn to grade hardwood lumber.
• Travel occasionally with sales or buying teams to understand lumber sourcing and distribution.
• Undertake projects aimed at reducing costs or increasing facility production.
• Work directly with the Yard Manager to learn daily facility operations and tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to work a long, flexible schedule in a year-round outdoor environment.
