About the Role

Climate Policy Radar is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Application team. This role involves collaborating with Product Managers to develop new features, enhance existing systems, and design scalable solutions for a growing user base. You will contribute to key priorities such as improving data import capabilities, preparing for multilingual product support, enhancing the search engine, integrating GenAI and RAG for evidence synthesis, and enabling external data sharing via APIs.

Responsibilities

Building and deploying backend services consumed by other teams, products, or external partners
Working with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
Applying software engineering best practices including requirements gathering, code review, testing, version control, and documentation
Designing scalable, maintainable backend systems
Collaborating with Product and domain experts to solve meaningful problems

Requirements

Significant experience in highly collaborative cross-functional teams
Excitement about working in a startup/scaleup environment
Strong alignment with mission-driven organization values
Legally authorized to work in the UK
