About the Role

As Senior Manager, Group Strategy, you will shape AMP's strategic direction by supporting the CEO, ExCo, and senior leaders in making informed, commercially grounded decisions. You will develop and evolve AMP’s Group Strategy, contribute to the annual Group Strategic Planning Process, and foster an environment for leaders to debate, challenge, and align on critical choices for the organization's future. This role offers visibility and influence across the enterprise, involving leadership and contribution to strategic projects, development of Board and Executive papers, financial modeling, business case creation, and integration of market, competitor, and customer insights. You will also support corporate development activities, including assessing inorganic growth opportunities, partnerships, M&A, divestments, and investment opportunities, translating strategic ideas into practical, value-creating outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CEO, ExCo and senior leaders to make informed, commercially grounded decisions.
  • Develop and evolve AMP’s Group Strategy.
  • Contribute to the annual Group Strategic Planning Process.
  • Create environments where leaders can debate, challenge and align on choices for the organization’s future.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic projects.
  • Develop clear Board and Executive papers.
  • Build financial models and business cases.
  • Bring external market, competitor and customer insights into AMP’s strategic thinking.
  • Support corporate development activity, including assessing inorganic growth opportunities, partnerships, M&A, divestments and investment opportunities.
  • Turn strategic ideas into practical, value-creating outcomes.

Requirements

  • Strong strategy experience gained in financial services, management consulting, corporate strategy or a related commercial environment.
  • Ideally supported by exposure to M&A, transactions or corporate development activity.
  • Comfortable working with complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to use structured thinking, commercial judgement and analytical rigour to frame issues, assess options and provide practical recommendations.
  • Confident communicator and trusted stakeholder partner.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into compelling presentations, written memos, business cases and Executive or Board-level materials.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, high-performing team.
  • Natural interest in wealth management, markets, customer dynamics and competitor activity.
  • Ability to adapt from BAU to the ambiguous with ease.
  • Commitment, grit and a growth mindset.
  • Willingness to jump in and deliver across a variety of areas.
  • Ability to hold your own.
