About the Role

The Field Support Technician (FST) travels to customer locations to repair proprietary equipment, including networking components, kiosks, and vending machines. The role involves diagnosing, testing, and replacing equipment, often with remote support from a Service Desk. Parts may be stored locally or in the company vehicle for quick repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with customers, the Service Desk, regional staff, and peers.
  • Diagnose, test, repair, and replace kiosks, PCs, vending machines, and networking equipment within correctional facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Service Desk team on preventative maintenance and walkthroughs.
  • Utilize a company car for travel to customer locations within the service area.
  • Update the Work Order (WO) module with travel time, work performed, and resolution details.
  • Learn new equipment, components, and evolving product offerings.
  • Travel to Saint Louis for hands-on equipment training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Service and maintain inmate phone systems at correctional facilities within an assigned region.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
  • Must possess T-1 and analog circuit repair knowledge.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of multiple network disciplines and perform advanced network diagnostics.
  • Must be able to develop good working relationships with facility personnel.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong team-oriented business skills.
  • Professional attitude when dealing with customers.
