About the Role
This role involves supervising the electrical installation of substations for one of the country's largest transmission builds, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, and right the first time.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the electrical installation of substations across the project, from equipment set-out through to handover
- Ensuring all electrical works conform to the specification, relevant standards and code of practice, and that hold and witness point actions are done before work starts
- Adopting a zero tolerance to work practices and equipment that may be unsafe or carry serious adverse safety or environmental impact
- Preparing safe work method statements and JSA cards alongside work crews, then making sure the controls are implemented and reviewed regularly
- Leading subcontractors positively, monitoring their performance and holding the standard of workmanship
- Recording non-conformances, initiating corrective actions and prioritising close-out of outstanding defects with the project team
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience supervising electrical installation works, or managing electrical trade packages, on major projects
- Previous experience working in high voltage environments
- A working knowledge of HS&E and regulatory requirements, and how to implement them on the ground
- Clear communication, verbal and written, with the ability to give plain direction to construction workers
- Supervised substation installation before and know what it takes to get it in safely and to specification
- Read drawings confidently
- Hold subcontractors to the standard
- Plan work so it lands on schedule
