About the Role
This position is responsible for accurate receiving, storing, shipping, repackaging, and palletizing of product to meet company standards of sanitation, safety, security, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Pick and pack order picking and/or assembly of products in less than full case lots
- Perform light assembly of light mechanical or electrical component parts or sub-assemblies that may require the use of hand tools
- Manage record storage
- Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions
- Repair and recoup damaged goods
- Count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments for damage, infestation, and production code dates
- Report shortages, damages, and miss-shipments on appropriate forms
- Sign for inbound shipments when necessary
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations
- Efficiently stack and store merchandise
- Ensure correct number and type of product is picked
- Compare quantity, labeling, and address with order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct
- Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment
- Stencil, tag, or mark orders as required
- Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed
- Accept signature for outbound shipments as necessary
- Efficiently move product into trailers, rail cars, or containers
- Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts
- Ensure proper stock rotation
- Operate shrink-wrap machine
- Charge forklift battery/gas tanks as needed
- Repair pallets when necessary
- Clean railcars, trailers, and truck bays as requested
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Ability to work in an outdoors and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation
- Ability to work in areas with exposure to vibration, improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work spaces
- Ability to work above ground level where the possibility of falling exists
- Ability to perform frequent lifting and carrying of items
- Ability to work in environments with loud noises
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Must be able to carry and climb a ladder
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
- Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements
