About the Role
As a hotel maintenance team member, you’re a key part of ensuring a safe and comfortable environment by inspecting and repairing various energy systems, such as heating and cooling, plumbing, lighting, and kitchen equipment. You will also assist with repairing floors, patching/painting, roofs, and doors, and installing new products and light fixtures.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and attend to guest repair requests.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
- Perform patching and painting on walls, ceilings, baseboards, and moldings.
- Mount or hang shelving and artwork.
- Wash windows and perform other deep cleaning tasks.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Conduct seasonal weatherproofing.
- Assist with pest control.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with department heads and contractors.
- Update and file maintenance work order forms.
- Interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units.
- Prioritize and organize work assignments efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
- Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
- Read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
- Perform maintenance activities in guest rooms, including drain plunging/snaking and repairing hardware, electrical equipment, lamps, air conditioners/HVAC, and AC ducts.
- Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas, including drain plunging/snaking and repairing hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment, and cosmetic items.
- Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
- Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment.
- Clean, lubricate, protect, and maintain all tools and equipment.
- Analyze problems, identify courses of action, and implement solutions independently.
- Be available for emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and team members, and preserve the building and its systems during emergencies.
- Monitor fire alarm systems as necessary and handle emergencies involving these systems.
- Ensure adherence to fire safety protocols and building codes.
- Carry out specific oral and written instructions.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
- Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Comply with all Archive Hospitality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- 2 or more years of experience with property maintenance.
- Familiarity with Ontario Fire Code, OSHA, and Toronto Building Code.
- Significant experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and painting.
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed, and accuracy.
- Experience working under pressure and exercising sound judgment.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
