About the Role

HR Corporate Transformation & Operations is dedicated to delivering centralized operational support to a diverse group of 75,000 active and 20,000 retired colleagues. Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Year-end Payroll Manager and Payroll Team to coordinate deliverables and communicate updates.
  • Support new initiatives by collaborating closely with the Team and business partners through the phases of implementation and completion on a timely basis.
  • Balance all year-end tax slips and complete year-end government filings in compliance with CRA, Revenu Quebec and IRS regulations.
  • Distribute T4, RL1, T4A, RL2, NR4, RCA, 1042-S, 1099-R government tax slips and the T2200 and TP64-3 forms.
  • Reconcile and maintain regulatory compliance across Canadian and US jurisdictions.
  • Support all expatriates and globally mobile employee payroll activities.
  • Participate in both internal and external audits.
  • Provide customized payroll and year-end tax slip support for the CEO and Senior Executive Team.
  • Manage end-to-end Board of Directors’ payrolls.
  • Identify, review, and prepare POIs for Group 1-8 retirees.
  • Review and correct taxes from the Retiree Demographic report and the US Tax Data Query.
  • Respond to employee inquiries through Helpdesk cases.
  • Ensure the integrity of Workday data through balancing tax slip boxes after each pay cycle.
  • Prepare manual tax slips, including 102 Regulation requirements for cross-boarder commuters from the US.
  • Prepare amended tax slips, including submission to government agencies.
  • Support with all payroll accounting year-end payroll data to ensure accurate recording and processing.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new pay components, including testing and validation in test and production environments.
  • Administer Board of Director's quarterly fees and RSU payments.
  • Action variance and exemption reports to correct data integrity errors and ensure the accuracy of year-end tax slips.
  • Process POI (retirees) Group 1-8 balancing and uploads.
  • Perform processes and functions for expatriate payroll.
  • Support the processing of shadow payrolls.
  • Provide accurate and timely resolutions to inquiries from internal and external business partners.
  • Review and validate the accuracy of annual PIER reports from CRA and RQ.
  • Process specific payments both manual off cycles and using WD EIB templates.
  • Process cheque reversals and other year-end adjustments resulting from data integrity.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Cross-train and job shadow with the YE Team to increase knowledge and support during critical periods.
  • Provide payroll data information to various business partners.
  • Participate in ad hoc requests and/or projects.

Requirements

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation, (or working on completion) PCP
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Federal/Provincial and U.S. regulatory and legislative requirements related to payroll (Canada Revenue Agency/ Revenu Quebec/IRS).
  • Sound knowledge of Workday, Resolution Management principles, and Data Integrity Reconciliation principles.
