About the Role

Guardian Proservices is seeking a consistently hard-working, Janitor Custodial Specialist committed to reliable quality service and customer relationships. This role involves providing a safe and clean environment for airline passengers at LaGuardia International Airport.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings, and dusts and polishes light fixtures.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
• Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Performs other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Dusts and washes walls, windows, and ledges.
• Removes trash.
• Applies and removes protection applications to walls, floors, and equipment.
• Operates heavy-duty floor machines and carpet extractors.
• Maintains all types of floor areas through stripping/refinishing hard surface floors and shampooing carpeted areas.
• Labels chemicals correctly, operates chemical dispensing units, and measures chemicals correctly.
• Inspects and ensures all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting problems to the supervisor.
• Shampoos assigned carpeted areas.
• Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations, reporting problems to the shift supervisor.
• Empties waste baskets and replaces liners.
• Dusts/cleans tops of office furniture.
• Vacuums all carpeting.
• Spot cleans soiled areas on carpets as needed.
• Sweeps and mops tile areas.
• Wipes/cleans vending machines and appliances.
• Cleans sink and counter areas.
• Keeps janitor’s closet neat and orderly.
• Maintains equipment properly at all times.

Requirements

• Working experience of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities is a MUST.
• Must have good listening and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to speak English and Spanish.
• Must maintain a neat appearance.
• Must attend periodic training and safety meetings.
• Must be able to understand and anticipate the needs of the clients.
• Must be punctual.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
