About the Role
DGA Security Systems is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to install, configure, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NYC Fire Code, and local jurisdictional requirements. This role involves working with fire alarm control panels, batteries, Data Gathering Panels (DGPs), notification appliances, initiating devices, and remote annunciators to ensure functionality and code compliance.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and test Fire Alarm Systems and devices.
- Ensure all devices and systems follow NFPA standards and local codes.
- Accurately complete inspection reports and service documentation.
- Communicate with customers regarding service issues and resolutions.
- Demonstrate safe use of ladders, lifts, and hand/power tools.
- Install electrical conduit as per the NEC and NYC requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant electrical/fire alarm experience.
- Experience with Auxiliary Radio Communication Systems (ARCS) a plus.
- Familiarity with Edwards (EST) products a plus.
- Understanding of basic electronics and electrical principles (Ohm’s Law, AC/DC).
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret electrical schematics.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- SST 40-hour NYC Site Safety Training.
- S-98 Certificate of Fitness.
- NICET Level I or II certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already held.
