About the Role
The Mary Cariola Center is dedicated to fostering a culture of belonging and inclusion. This role involves providing consultation, case management, and advocacy for families and students, ensuring they have access to necessary services and support.
Responsibilities
- Provides consultation to teachers and agency staff, acting as a liaison with families.
- Maintains accurate social work files, central files, and other reports for case management.
- Offers advocacy and case management for families to ensure access to agency or community services.
- Provides indirect and/or direct counseling services to families and students, including IEP mandated counseling.
- Coordinates student evaluations, chairs staff meetings for recommendations, and ensures treatment plan implementation.
- Participates in weekly Social Work coverage, including other colleagues' caseloads and transportation issues.
- May be required to transport students and/or families as directed by the Social Work Supervisor/Manager.
- Understands the medical, psycho-social, and educational needs of the agency's population.
- Attends discipline-related meetings and in-service sessions as required.
- Provides supervision and didactic services for social work students.
- Participates in agency functions and community meetings as requested.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW)
- 1-3 years related experience, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including interpreting documents.
- Possess a current and valid NYS driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
