About the Role
This is a hands-on admissions consulting and mentoring position where you will work one-to-one with students throughout the postgraduate application journey, helping them decide what and where to study, assess their competitiveness, strengthen their profile, develop an application strategy, and present their academic and professional experience convincingly. A significant part of the role involves providing detailed, substantive guidance on application materials, working closely with students on content, structure, academic narrative, programme fit, and positioning across multiple drafts.
Responsibilities

- Research and recommend appropriate Master’s programmes in the UK and US.
- Develop ambitious but realistic university and programme lists.
- Assess how competitive a student is for individual programmes.
- Explain how different programmes and admissions committees are likely to evaluate a student's profile.
- Identify weaknesses or gaps in a student's candidacy and recommend practical ways to address them.
- Build strong one-to-one mentoring relationships with students.
- Advise on academic development, course selection, further reading, independent academic work, research opportunities, internships, professional experience, relevant extracurricular activities, relationships with potential academic referees, GRE or GMAT preparation, and broader academic and career direction.
- Meet students regularly, review their progress and adapt their strategy.
- Provide detailed, hands-on advice on the content and positioning of students’ application materials, including Statements of Purpose, Personal Statements, CVs, supplementary essays, research proposals, and scholarship applications.
- Work with students through multiple drafts and provide specific, actionable feedback.
- Help students identify relevant experiences, decide what to emphasise, build a coherent narrative, articulate intellectual interests, explain their motivations, demonstrate programme fit, position experiences effectively, select appropriate evidence, address changes in academic direction, and improve the overall persuasiveness of the application.
- Guide students through the complete postgraduate application process, including developing timelines, monitoring deadlines, understanding requirements, advising on referee selection, reviewing applications, and managing overlapping deadlines.
- Prepare students for postgraduate admissions interviews through mock interviews and challenging discussions.
