About the Role
This role involves providing supervision and direction to MOW Drivers and Deliverers, coordinating daily staffing, and ensuring timely meal delivery to seniors. The position also requires managing vehicle operations, maintenance, and communication systems to ensure compliance with DFTA and Risk Management standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and direction to MOW Drivers and Deliverers.
- Coordinate and monitor daily Driver/Deliverer staffing patterns and plans for daily coverages.
- Update the MOW team on daily staffing and coverage.
- Determine the need for external resources to ensure timely daily meal delivery to seniors, with superior approval.
- Ensure vans are operational and available for daily meal delivery routes.
- Ensure all vehicles meet operational guidelines and standards set by DFTA and Risk Management/Legal.
- Ensure vehicles possess the necessary documents for routes.
- Establish communication systems with the fleet for real-time triaging of emergency situations.
- Ensure all communication systems on the route are operational and managed properly, including mobile phones, van cameras, and geo trackers.
- Drive routes in emergency situations.
- Coordinate maintenance for program vehicles, including mileage and weekly logs of fueling, oil checks, and cleaning.
- Schedule repairs or maintenance work, coordinating with the Associate Director and Bookkeeper regarding budgetary capacities.
- Coordinate the drop-off and pick-up of vehicles requiring repairs.
- Disburse gas cards following policy and ensure gas receipts and logs are maintained.
- Inspect vehicle cleanliness and ensure the fleet has proper maintenance supplies.
- Maintain parking lots, monitor garbage, and place garbage bags on the street as scheduled.
- Oversee vehicles are parked in designated spots to ensure contract compliance.
- Audit routes to determine time and cost effectiveness of delivery schedules and employee shift adherence.
- Liaise with the caterer to reconcile problems with meal delivery amounts per route.
- Assist in managing meal expediters at the caterer for smooth and timely on-boarding of meals.
- Work with MOW leadership to compile information and documents related to employee accidents and incidents for timely submission to Risk Management/Legal.
- Assist MOW leadership in identifying fleet development areas and seeking resources/scheduling trainings to meet DFTA standards.
- Create systems to document adherence to vehicle maintenance standards for audits by the Department for the Aging.
- Perform other related functions delegated or assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Ability to start a 7:00 a.m. work shift.
- Valid driver's license and licensed driver for at least 2 years.
- Ability to walk distances and climb stairs.
- Ability to search addresses and follow directions.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for creating reports.
- Knowledge of area preferred.
