About the Role
The Coordinator of Creative Video & Reporter develops, produces, and executes original multimedia content to enhance the visibility and reputation of Army West Point Athletics. This role creates compelling video, graphic, written, and social media content to engage fans, support departmental objectives, and showcase achievements. The position drives brand awareness through innovative storytelling and audience-focused digital content strategies.
Responsibilities
- Research, develop and produce content plans to increase awareness of and recognition of AWPAA teams, coaches and cadet-athletes.
- Produce content to engage and expand the awareness of Army West Point athletics to fans, cadet-athletes, coaches, recruits and families through all digital platforms in a variety of formats (i.e. graphics, and video pieces).
- Serve as on-camera talent/host and produce digital content to support Army West Point teams and build the Army West Point brand.
- Create and produce Army West Point video segments (previews, recaps, news and notes, interviews, championships, special events etc.) and human-interest features on teams and individual cadet-athletes.
- Assist and execute the Army West Point social media strategy across its social media channels, not limited to digital presence, engagement, monitoring, content creation, promotion and analytics.
- Create high quality graphical messaging and creative content that is consistent and in line with the Army West Point brand identity.
- Provide real-time coverage of Army West Point games and events.
- Be actively involved in social media conversation while consistently engaging with fans and followers.
- Be the lead video representative in sport specific external meetings.
- Work with coaches and team operations staff.
- Develop content storylines and interview questions.
- Collaborate with other external groups (e.g. ticket office) to support the overall marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with sponsorship group on sponsored initiatives and fulfillment.
- Assist with the digital archiving of Army West Point photos and videos.
- Work with the communications staff to ensure correct labeling and organization of digital archives.
- Oversee inventory, maintenance/upkeep and updates of certain video and audio equipment.
- Provide direction and guidance to supervised interns on day-to-day work.
- Implement monthly meetings with interns to promote career development.
Requirements
- A passion for college athletics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Broadcast, Journalism or related field; a combination of education and relevant experience may substitute.
- 1-3 years in communications, broadcast or journalism or related fields.
- Extensive experience using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Box, Zoom and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong writing skills and excellent news judgment.
- Deep knowledge of sports in general and football, NCAA football, in particular.
- An unwavering commitment to accurate, ethical journalism.
- Willingness to collaborate frequently as part of a team.
- Initiative to develop a strong network of sources to find and pursue stories that will reach a broad audience.
- An interest in telling stories using a variety of media and engagement tools, and an enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies.
- Fluency in the science of readership and engagement, including an understanding of metrics/analytics and an understanding of SEO and other audience optimization tactics.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to take and give constructive criticism.
- Ability to work comfortably and nimbly in a fast-paced, data-driven job shaped by feedback and experimentation.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
- Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
