About the Role
The Analyst, Finance (FA) will join the Metergy finance team in North York, Ontario. This versatile position provides the foundation, guidance, and exposure towards a challenging and dynamic career. The FA will be responsible for various accounting functions including financial reporting, accounting transactions, and reconciliations. This position will interact regularly with individuals in finance, operations, and external & internal audit.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end closing process including the preparation of monthly journal entries under tight month-end deadlines.
- Support the team in reconciling financial data and identifying discrepancies.
- Support the team in data entry and maintenance of financial databases.
- Assist in AR / AP cleaning accounts monthly reconciliation.
- Record treasury transactions and perform relevant data matching.
- Compile, analyze, and report on key business operating metrics/drivers, including the ability to link operating and financial trends and variances.
- Assist in the preparation of various analyses and reports for senior management to support their business decision making.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and presentations on financial and operational results, as well as supporting any special projects.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Post-Secondary co-op or internship program.
- Excellent knowledge of Accounting and financial principles.
- Highly proficient in Excel, including the ability to use advanced functions.
- Ability to work comfortably and analyze large data sets.
- Sharp attention to details and accuracy, and a dedicated work-ethic.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking skills and able to creatively identify and solve problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.
