About the Role

Clarity Wellness Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join their team. This role involves supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges, building trust, fostering independence, and helping them navigate their recovery journey. The ideal candidate is empathetic, a strong communicator, and driven by purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Provide community- and home-based services that uplift, encourage, and empower individuals.
  • Offer support and engagement.
  • Facilitate skill building and recovery coaching.
  • Connect individuals with the community and navigate resources.
  • Collaborate with others and maintain documentation.

Requirements

  • Identifies as being in active recovery from a behavioral health condition and is willing to self-disclose their journey.
  • Holds (or is eligible for) OMH New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) certification or Office of Addiction Services peer certification.
  • Has experience supporting adults with behavioral health challenges (preferred).
  • Understands harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and person-centered recovery models.
  • Possesses strong communication, coping, and problem-solving skills.
  • Is adaptable, empathetic, and able to think critically in complex situations.
  • Is proficient, or willing to become proficient, in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
  • Holds a valid driver's license, has at least 3 years of driving history, and can pass a DMV check.
