About the Role
The Manager, Manufacturing Operations oversees daily operations across Machine Shop, NDT, Shipping/Receiving, RA Furnace, PP Furnace, RAPP Screening, and Materials. This role performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines, establishing objectives and guidelines for managing and monitoring cell performance and productivity. The Manager directs scheduling and sequencing of work, as well as production innovation to optimize production.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operations across Machine Shop, NDT, Shipping/Receiving, RA Furnace, PP Furnace, RAPP Screening, and Materials.
- Oversees production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management).
- Performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines.
- Establishes objectives and guidelines for managing and monitoring cell performance and productivity.
- Directs scheduling and sequencing of work, as well as production innovation to optimize production.
- Manages a team of primarily intermediate or experienced professionals including salaried supervisors to determine how assignments are completed.
- Sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results.
- Manages a team of cell leaders to ensure all quality related items are complete and documented.
- Directs cost reduction and process improvement to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
- Directs scheduling to meet production schedules.
- Sets the sequencing of work, such as build and delivery, to optimize productivity.
- Leads materials and logistics problem resolution to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations.
- Manages multiple cells’ performance and productivity to maximize productivity.
- Directs production innovation, including additive manufacturing, to enhance production capabilities.
- Liaises with customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with 8 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, production, quality or related field OR a Master's degree with 5 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, production, quality or related field
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of shop practices, processes and procedures
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Skills
- SAP user experience
- Supervisory/team leadership experience with specialized knowledge, or technical/operational practices, and/or shop environment experience
- Continuous improvement certificates/training such as 6 Sigma practitioner/Professional certification
- Experience with Environmental Health & Safety principles
