About the Role
This early-career engineering role focuses on building, operating, and improving cloud data/analytics platforms and supporting BI delivery. You will contribute to platform reliability, CI/CD, environment setup, and operational runbooks while learning best practices in security, governance, and deployment automation.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operations for cloud data platforms, including workspace/project setup, access requests, basic configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with platform hygiene, such as organizing environments, documenting standards, and improving repeatability.
- Help implement and maintain guardrails for naming/tagging conventions, access patterns, and basic cost awareness.
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows for data and analytics assets under mentorship.
- Help maintain reusable templates and checklists for deployments.
- Assist teams with onboarding and enablement for core platforms and BI tools.
- Support basic performance triage for data and analytics assets and escalate issues effectively.
- Help build and maintain runbooks, including standard operating procedures, known issues, quick fixes, and escalation paths.
- Participate in incident response support and contribute to preventative improvements.
- Follow and reinforce least-privilege access practices and secure secret handling.
- Assist with data governance basics, including PII handling expectations, row-level access concepts, and environment separation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years in a data engineering, platform engineering, analytics engineering, or cloud operations role (internships/co-ops count).
- Minimum 1 year of representative accounting experience, whether implementing systems or in direct accounting roles.
- Comfort with one or more of the following: Snowflake (preferred), Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks.
- Comfort with one or more of the following BI platforms: Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts (Git, branching/PRs, basic pipelines).
- Basic scripting capability in Python or PowerShell, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to break down problems, gather evidence, and communicate clearly.
- Ability to document learnings through runbooks, checklists, or short 'how-to' guides.
- Exposure to cloud concepts, including identity/access, resource organization, and logging/monitoring.
- Familiarity with SQL and performance basics (indexes/partitioning concepts, query plans at a high level).
- Understanding of data governance concepts (PII, RLS/CLS, environment separation).
- Demonstrated experience with AI/ML/GenAI enablement (model lifecycle, AI Search, Azure OpenAI integration, or MLOps).

Salary/Compensations
- $91,300 - $124,400 (Colorado)
- $100,400 - $136,900 (Washington, Illinois, New York, Southern California)
- $105,000 - $143,000 (Northern California)
