About the Role

Universal Music UK is seeking an Analytics and Insights Lead to join their UK central data, AI and technology team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a new chapter of growth and expansion, leveraging data, AI, and technology to drive innovation and creative strategies across the company. The ideal candidate is passionate about music, data, AI, and technology, with a knack for acquiring, analyzing, and communicating knowledge through data. Reducing complex problems into simple solutions and translating data into clear insights for stakeholders are key strengths for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with labels to support artists as a senior voice focused on label strategy, stakeholder relationships, and insight storytelling.
  • Act as a senior Data & AI voice for labels, leading data strategy and aligning insight work with label priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with label teams to understand priorities, gather requirements, and shape analytical briefs.
  • Support core strategic research with artist, audience, market, and repertoire insight.
  • Collaborate with analysts to translate label questions into analysis, reporting, and actionable recommendations.
  • Utilize various data sources to identify key metrics and opportunities, feeding insights back to label teams.
  • Create clear narratives around artist performance, audience behavior, and campaign opportunities to guide business decisions.
  • Advise on data-related topics to ensure strategic projects, products, and reporting align with label needs.
  • Identify opportunities for new datasets, dashboards, features, or insight products to enhance business operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in analytics, insight, data strategy, audience research, or a related role.
  • Background engaging stakeholders in a consultative or strategic capacity.
  • Experience working closely with label, marketing, artist, media, or creative teams is advantageous.
  • Experience turning data and insight into clear recommendations that inform business decisions.
  • Experience leading analysis that supports artist strategy, campaign planning, audience development, or product development.
  • Experience working with analysts, data scientists, engineering, or product teams to turn business questions into reporting, tools, or data products.

Skills

  • Strong ability to turn data into clear insight, narratives, and recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence working directly with label teams.
  • Ability to gather requirements and translate business questions into clear analytical briefs.
  • Experience wrangling data using SQL and BigQuery.
  • Comfortable working with partner, platform, and internal data sources.
  • Good understanding of artist, audience, campaign, and market performance metrics.
  • Ability to turn strategic priorities into actionable analysis, recommendations, and next steps.
  • Ability to present insight clearly to senior, creative, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with analysts and technical teams to shape reporting, dashboards, and research.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to guide strategic work from brief to delivery.
  • Commercially minded, curious, and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Good understanding of data, AI, and modern analytics tools.
  • Experience working within music, media, entertainment, or a related creative industry is advantageous.
