About the Role
As an Underwriting Portfolio Engineer, you will leverage advanced data, engineering, and analytical techniques to enhance underwriting portfolio decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and facilitate effective portfolio steering. This hands-on role involves working directly with underwriting portfolio managers and leaders to define business questions, analyze complex portfolio data, and build practical solutions within Palantir and other relevant platforms, covering the full project lifecycle from problem definition to adoption and impact measurement.
Responsibilities
- Build underwriting-specific data products, analytical tools, and Palantir workflows to support portfolio planning, capacity setting, and steering.
- Translate complex underwriting portfolio questions into practical analytics and reusable decision-support capabilities.
- Analyze performance, exposures, concentrations, dependencies, and portfolio dynamics to inform strategic decisions.
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust solutions using reliable, decision-ready data from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with users throughout the delivery and adoption phases, measuring the impact of solutions on decision quality, speed, and consistency.
- Contribute to common engineering practices, reusable components, documentation, and analytical standards within the team.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience developing data products, analytical workflows, or decision-support solutions in Palantir Foundry or a comparable platform.
- Strong capability in data modeling, transformation, integration, and analysis using technologies such as Python, SQL, or equivalent tools.
- Experience managing solutions from problem definition through development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to translate complex or ambiguous business questions into practical analytical approaches and clear outputs.
- Ability to clearly explain technical findings and collaborate effectively with underwriting, portfolio management, and other business stakeholders.
